Do Your Research

Comparing prices can definitely be time consuming, but it’s a great way to find the best deal. You might think this is difficult for something as big as a black kitchen cabinets, but it works just like any other product. If you don’t have enough choices locally you can always do your research on the Internet. Most of the time it can provide you with the best price. All you have to do is compare your choices. We suggest looking for at least 3 of them when you do.

Buy the cabinets wholesale.

Do you shop at Costco or any other wholesaler? Well, chances are you can find affordable cabinets. LKN Cabinets provides factory direct cabinets for the Charlotte area. Cutting out the middleman can provide you with huge savings, especially when you could easily spend thousands elsewhere. You don’t have to worry about the price boost due to advertising, paying salespeople, display rooms, or anything else they try to cover. When you go wholesale you will find the “true” value behind these cheap kitchen cabinets.

Try Doing it Yourself

Just as installing backsplashes for kitchen can save you money, so this action can have the same results. With the right tools and skills, installing cabinets can be a doable and rewarding evening or holiday job. It also has the potential to become a disaster if you don’t know what you’re doing. So before you try your hand at installing kitchen cabinets, make sure that you’re up for the task.

Buy cabinets with minor flaws.

When you’re shopping for cheap kitchen cabinets, it’s possible that the company has a cheaper price on a set that has minor flaws. If they look good you should purchase them, because you don’t even see the flaws when they are installed. This route can provide you with huge savings as long as your happy with what you’re purchasing.

Sales and Specials

You probably get tons of junk mail that offers advertisements for kitchen cabinets. Even though some of these don’t really feel like deals, they can still save you money. If you plan to find your cheap kitchen cabinets online, take the time to look for “coupon codes.” These are all over the place and they work just like one you would cut out of your savings magazine. Just make sure it hasn’t expired.

Visit local yard sales and garage sales.

The chances of you finding kitchen cabinets at a garage sale aren’t necessarily the greatest, but they do come around from time to time. Pick up your weekly paper and head over to a few of them. If there is a phone number you can call to see if they are offering any. Then again; it’s possible that something like Craigslist would be more beneficial.

Making your kitchen look beautiful starts with finding the right kitchen cabinets. Taking the time to find the best deals can provide you with the perfect choice at the lowest price possible.

Why no Showroom? Lower Prices!

Recently our sublease was cancelled unexpectedly at our Showroom space in Mooresville,NC. This left LKN Cabinets and Remodeling without a showroom. How did we respond? We decided to go back and lower our prices about 10% across the board! We also ordered even more doors samples and cabinet upgrade samples.

We will of course be looking for more showroom space after the next Southern Spring Show which we will be attending for the 3rd straight time! Until then, we hope all our customers enjoy our lower prices. We apologize for the inconvenience to some that demand to see a showroom.

Plywood Counters?

DIY Plywood Counter Top Plywood countertops are very versatile. With a sheet of plywood, you have multiple choices of how to finish the countertop. Furniture grade plywood finished with two or three coats of polyurethane gives your kitchen a style of countertop well suited to a craftsman or country style kitchen. Ceramic tile, sheet laminate and wood veneers applied to plywood countertops are just a few of the options to let your kitchen reflect your taste, without breaking the budget. Plywood 1. Invest in good quality 3/4-inch exterior (not treated) plywood for your countertop. Exterior plywood manufactured with waterproof glues that will withstand the sometimes-damp environment of a kitchen contributes to a long-lasting countertop. Exterior plywood also works well with mastics and thinset if you wish to apply ceramic tile to the countertop. If you are planning to apply finish and leave the wood as is, buy furniture-grade plywood, it is more expensive, but the quality is worth the investment. With furniture grade plywood, you will only have to do a light finish sanding and apply stain and finish. Easily complete the countertop in a weekend using fast drying stains and finishes. Use wood that is of the same species as the countertop to trim the front edges. According to Mark Powers of This Old House.Com, a large segment of people who at one time were planning to use either granite or butcher block countertops are opting to use plywood because of its lower cost and “real wood” appearance. Sheet Laminate 2. If you prefer the look and easy care of laminate but do not care for the color choices of preformed laminate countertops, sheet laminate will give you another choice. Sheet laminate works with countertops that have straight, square edges. Laminate adhesive applies to the countertop and the back of the laminate. The adhesive allowed reaching the correct level of tackiness before beginning installation. A router is a handy tool to have to finish the edges of sheet laminate. Wood veneer is another choice to give your countertop the look of high-end wood countertops that you see featured in home magazines. This veneer is more expensive than sheet laminate but offers multiple choices of styles and colors. Ceramic tile countertop. According to Home Time.com, in order to have success in installing ceramic tile on plywood countertops, cement backer board installs on top of the exterior plywood. The cement backer board attaches to the plywood with a layer of thinset mortar and secures with nails driven into the plywood. Ceramic tile installed onto the cement board with mastic, allowed to dry and grouted. Mixing a latex additive into the grout gives the grout flexibility and deters cracking. A coat of sealer applied to the grouted tile keeps the grout from staining and is easier to clean.
