Giving Your Kitchen a Face Lift With New Kitchen Cabinets

When you do a lot of cooking in your kitchen, over time your kitchen can start to look old and worn out. It is a perfectly natural occurrence of wear and tear. However, cooking in an environment that looks old, depressing and dirty can also affect your mood, and in turn affect how you feel when you cook.

A very great way of giving your kitchen a face lift is simply by redoing your kitchen cabinets!

There are several ways you can do this. You can tear down your old kitchen cabinets and install new ones. You can get kitchen cabinets with the latest designs, colors and styles to freshen up the look and feel of your kitchen from contemporary, to country, to even having antique style kitchen cabinets!

If you have the budget for this, installing new kitchen cabinets can be the way to go. On the other hand, if you need to keep costs within a limited budget, what can you do?

Refacing your cabinets is the other way to go. You do not have to tear down your old cupboards, especially if they have sentimental value for you. Instead, you can just give your kitchen cabinets a new look by updating the look and style of your old kitchen cabinets!

Look through the latest kitchen design magazines, or visit showrooms around your area for new ideas. Take this as a weekend project where you give your kitchen a makeover. You can even save money by looking for discounts or places where you can get what you are looking for at a cheaper price.

You could change the facade of your kitchen doors, replace your old kitchen cabinet knobs with the latest designs in handles or pulls or even have different textures to your kitchen cabinets.

Make sure you first create a budget of how much you are willing to spend on doing a kitchen makeover. Then create a spreadsheet with the items you are looking at, the cost of purchasing them, and where you can get these items from. With this costing spreadsheet and overall plan, you will be able to track your expenses as well as remember what you wanted to do in the first place.

Remodeling your kitchen can be fun, and very fulfilling once everything is completed. And it doesn’t take as much talent as you think. If you do not want to go at it alone, you can invite your partner to help you create a new kitchen that both of you can enjoy great and fun times together.

Kitchen Color Schemes – Design Your Own Kitchen

A kitchen’s color sets the mood in the kitchen. It makes the room either alive or dull. It also makes the room look either cramped or cozy. In some instances, it also creates in the persons using it a feeling of either excitement or boredom. Thus it is really important for you think of the color of your kitchen to give it a positive aura. Here are some kitchen color schemes to guide you in designing your kitchen.

If you are not a very adventurous person, the least risky of the different kitchen color schemes is monochromatic. Using only one color creates a clean effect. You don’t have to worry if colors complement or contradict each other. Commonly used colors are white, peach and yellow. If you want it to have a little ‘accent’, you can use one color in different hues.

For a classic look, one of the best kitchen color schemes that you can use is the neutral scheme. Commonly used colors are gray, cream and tan. If you want it to become a bit edgier, you can use the accented kitchen color scheme. In this scheme you still use the neutral colors as the base color but you add lighter ones to accentuate it.

For a spunky look you can use the complementary color scheme. In this style you can use two complementary colors to make the kitchen really alive. Two bright complimentary colors will add more life to the kitchen. They can lift up the mood of whoever is going to use the room. However, too bright complementary colors can sometimes add stress to the user. If you want to avoid this, you can opt to use two light or less bright complimentary colors.

These kitchen color schemes are the usual schemes used in painting a kitchen. But remember that you can always freely use your creativity to make the kitchen more exciting to work in.

Remodeling Your Kitchen on a Budget

Okay I know what you are thinking. This guy is going to tell me with a can of white paint your cabinets will look great. Well, not hardly. I have seen some jobs where a coat of paint will help escape the inevitable for a little while, but the time soon comes where the cabinets must be replaced.

I have been remodeling and rehabbing mainly foreclosures over the last 8 years. I saw first hand that the majority of the expense of a kitchen remodel is in the cabinets. I saw the need for an “affordable” kitchen remodel after feeling cheated for the quality I was getting at large home improvement stores.. Therefore, we started our own cabinet/kitchen remodeling business to get the lowest prices on cabinets. LKN Cabinets was formed.  www.LKNcabinets.com showcases 2 different lines of “Wholesale or Affordable” Cabinets. We also carry the full line of Armstrong cabinets, a well know US cabinetmaker. These 3 distinct lines accomplish our goal of affordability.

I invite you, check that, I challenge you to have us quote out your kitchen remodel. For those that have quotes already in hand, don’t be shocked if we come in as much as 50% off our competitors. Quotes are FREE so pick up the phone today.
